Understanding Class Options
Core Classes
Curriculum is based in both ballet & *creative dance.
Technique Classes (Tech 1, 2, & 3)
Students MUST be registered in a Core Class in order to register for a Technique Class. Tech classes are available for 2nd grade - Teen,.
Technique classes are based in ballet & contemporary; further advancing training in leaps, turns, stretching, ballet barre, ballet centre & choreography.
Dancers get a class leotard for a $25 fee & perform an additional costumed piece (no extra cost).
Technique classes are NOT mandatory but strongly encouraged for dancers interested in fast-tracking their skill & progress.
*What is Creative Dance?
Creative dance trains the dancer as an artist. It explores the main elements of movement; time, space, & energy through improvisation tasks & prompts, student choreography projects, meaningful problem solving, involvement of other art mediums, etc.
Dancers are active participants in the artistic process and develop their ability to be creative contributors. Training in creative movement and improvisation offers the dancer wisdom in the way they approach and execute movement in all genres.
